Internet+2000 miles=New Friends

Bro. and Sis. Zimmerman, me and Tony

I met my new friend Susan Zimmerman via the internet.
It's a cute story and I'll give you the short version.
Visit Sis. Zimmermans blog "This is Z Life"
for a more comprehensive account of our trip.

December 2008
I offered my guest house to my friends daughter's out of town visitors. I receive a comment on my blog from the mother of John, who is one of the young men visiting. We start e-mailing. Well, Sis. Susan and I continue to e-mail back and forth, discovering that our husbands love to hunt! We exchange phone #'s for our husbands to contact each other about hunting. I think the men talk a few times about hunting seasons, out of state licenses, etc. and the next thing I know, we are planning a trip to Arkansas! Tony and I pulled our 5th wheel across 5 states to stay and hunt with people we've never met. Honestly, we "instantly" took a liking (I'm trying to sound southern) to Bro. and Sis Zimmerman. We had so much fun the week we were there. Tony and Bro. Z went hunting all week, and Sis Susan and I ate and shopped, saw the sights of Little Rock, and ate and shopped some more! Thank you Bro. and Sis Z for the fabulous time we spent with you at your farm and we look forward to hosting ya'll in October!

The back porch was the scene for many a butchering!
Imagine our surprise when we run into our old friends A.J. and Cheryl Nesterenko, whom we haven't seen in 25 years! They now live in North Little Rock and attend First Pentecostal Church of NLR.

when I asked to take his picture.

Dear John....

.. We are going to have so much fun together!
I've been threatening to buy a riding lawn mower for some time. This morning I went to Lowes and picked this beauty out. I had no idea there were so many different "styles" of mowers. While I sat on this mower in the store and tried to convince Tony over the phone that I just had to have this model, a man came up to me and with a look of shock on his face exclaimed, "I thought you were part of the display" (must have been my yellow shoes :)
This baby even has a cup holder !

Yellowstone and Grand Tetons Park

After we left Calgary we stopped over in Great Falls and then into Yellowstone National Park, where we camped for a week. The Grand Teton Park is just "down the road" so we divided our time
between the two.

Somewhere on the way home, if you click on the picture you can see where kids have written the year they graduated school on the side of this hill. The school is at the base of the hill.

Oh Canada !

On July 3 we left Sacramento towing our 5th wheel up to Calgary. We stopped over in Salem Oregon and Spokane Washington before crossing over to Canada. About a half hour after crossing the border we blew a tire on the trailer! The tread broke our water pipe under the trailer. Thankfully we had a spare and a tool bag.
